VIDEO PROTOCOLS AND PROCEDURES



Make sure your equipment is charged and ready to go before you leave
All infrared and Ultra violet cameras at night must have an illuminator.
Be aware of all surroundings when video recording, incluing IR illuminators.
Video recordings are strongly encouraged to focus on trigger objects.
Do not use your video camera as a light source when travelling in dangerous locations.
For those members turning in video data, must ber analyzed within 72 hours.
Be aware of your surroundings at all times. Look for reflective objects. Be aware of the weather and the effects it could have upon your video recording if outside.
Be very objective in your video review and analysis. Use a skeptical approach but be open minded.
Know your video camera inside and out. Know all of its capabilites and functions. Know how to properly use your camera.
Do not bring new equipment out for the first time on an investigation without knowing completely how to operate it and all of its functions and capabilities.
Do not use you mobile phone as your video camera source unless to document an event or the potential movement of an object. Mobile phones will capture all kinds of reflections as well as dust, moisture orbs. Mobile Phones are not relaible in that regard.
Review video footage serveral times. If in doubt, throw it out.
During review, pay close attention to your audio from video recordings. Evps can often be captured this way.
You will need to acquire a very good tripod for video recording. A video shoulder mount is another great piece to add. You want your video footage to be a steady and not shakey.
