Background History
The Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery was first used in 1789 and is located in the city of Lexington,
Virginia. One hundred and fourty-four confederate veterens, two Virginia governors and a southern civil
war poet laureate are buried here. But the most famous burial here is that of Confederate General
Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson.
